Working at Heights – Refresher Training
Employers must ensure workers on construction projects complete a working at heights training program approved by the Chief Prevention Officer-approved before a worker uses a fall restricting system, fall arrest system, safety net, work belt or safety belt. This comprehensive working at heights training program has this approval to the APRIL 1, 2024 Standards.
This course meets the requirements of Section 26.2 of the Construction Regulation 213. Maximum 12 participants per session. Working at Heights – Recertification is only eligibility to participants who have completed the full Working at Heights program. The program is divided into two modules.
1.Theory: Participants learn about the hazards of working at heights, basic rights and duties along with relevant regulations governing fall arrest hazards, fall protection equipment and working at heights projects. They will also be introduced to the use, inspection, limitations, storage and procedures for travel restraint, fall restricting and fall arrest systems.
2. Hands-On Practical: Participants get hands-on training on fall protection equipment and systems. They will also explore key components of a fall rescue plan and emergency procedures.

Who Can Benefit From This Course
Under O. Reg. 213/91: Construction Projects, you need to take this training if you work on a construction project and are required to use any of the following methods of fall protection:
• Travel restraint system
• Fall restricting system
• Fall arrest system
• Safety net
• Work belt
• Safety belt
This training requirement is in addition to the equipment-specific training required by section 26.2 of O. Reg. 213/91. Working at heights training is valid for 3 years after the successful completion of an approved program. Note: All Participant’s information will be put into the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) Certificate Management System (CMS) as required by the CPO. All certificates will be issued through the CMS. Email addresses and year of birth are required information to access your CMS Account. Participants who attend must provide a valid photo identification as well as proof of current working at heights training (not expired) to attend this course. To ensure eligibility for the refresher, prospective participants should complete a check using the following link, provided by the Ministry of Labour to confirm they are eligible. https://www.apps.labour.gov.on.ca/cms/safety-and-prevention/home. The participants will receive a re-certification that is valid for 3 years, and will be able to log in through their account to obtain their certificates.
